Ohio WC Terms: Self-Insured Employer
Self-Insured Employer
Self-insured employers (or self-insurers) do not participate in the state insurance fund, but pay compensation and medical benefits directly to the injured worker. Self-insurers act as the initial decision-maker in a claim. An injured worker can appeal an unfavorable self-insurer decision to the Industrial Commission.
