Alcohol and Drug Use Bill Passes House
Posted: June, 2000
The Ohio House of Representatives approved H.B. 122, which would deny workers’ compensation benefits to employees under the influence of alcohol or other drugs at the time of injury.
The injured worker would be denied benefits unless they can prove the alcohol or drugs were not the primary cause of the accident. This bill allows employers to test injured workers within a “reasonable” time period after an injury through blood, breath or urine tests.
This legislation goes to the Ohio Senate for consideration.
