Electronic Records Legislation Passed

On June 14, 2000, the Governor signed two bills dealing with electronic records:

  1. House Bill 611, effective June 14, 2000, requires the BWC and Industrial Commission to jointly adopt rules governing submission of documents by electronic transmission.
  2. House Bill 488, effective September 14, 2000, provides for regulation of electronic records and electronic signatures and provides for use of electronic records and signatures by state agencies. This bill will give electronic documents the same legal standing as paper documents.
